3DE Program: The 3DE program at South Gwinnett High School offers an immersive experience within a school setting, providing students with core academic and Advanced Placement courses taught by dedicated 3DE teachers. This program integrates competencies from school districts, Junior Achievement, and the business community, engaging students in real-world case challenges from high-growth industries. Seniors benefit from semester-long internships, collaborating with partner organizations for workplace experience. This innovative model leverages networks and resources structured around practical problem-solving.
Arby’s National Case Competition: Our students earned top honors at Arby’s National Case Competition on March 30. Mycah Mitchell, Lubna Jalloh, Maisie Wreh, Taliaa Pouncey, and Kyle Gordon, guided by Mrs. Nikki Williams, excelled with their ‘Make Your Own Sandwich’ kiosk prototype. Arby’s judge Dan Burns commended the team for their outstanding teamwork and representation.
Career and Technical Education: The Career, Technical Education Department has expanded to include 13 Pathways, 4 Career Academies, and a 9th Grade Academy. In 2023, we celebrated 390 pathway completers, many earning college credit for their coursework.
College and Career Fair: In 2022, over 400 students participated in our College and Career Fair, with 32 colleges and universities in attendance. Some students received on-the-spot acceptance letters.
JROTC Program: Our Army JROTC program continues to grow, with a senior cadet earning a $500,000 scholarship to the United States Military Academy at West Point. This program encourages students to become competitive candidates for U.S. Service Academies.
STEM Fair: On February 28, 2023, 22 students participated in our STEM Fair, presenting 12 projects. Eleven students advanced to the Gwinnett Science, Engineering, and Innovation Fair, with several placing in their categories.
AP Capstone Program: South Gwinnett High School aims to achieve AP Capstone status by 2025. This prestigious program will give students a significant advantage in college admissions, fostering independent thinking and critical skills.
PSLM Academy Partnerships: The Public Service, Law, and Media (PSLM) Academy has partnered with the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office and the Snellville Police Department, providing students with real-world application experiences in law and criminal justice.
RAMP Designation: We are pursuing the RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) designation for our school counseling program, reflecting our commitment to high-quality counseling services that support college preparation, post-secondary planning, and scholarship acquisition.
PBIS Recognition: South Gwinnett High School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Operational status for its Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, promoting positive behaviors and recognizing students for appropriate conduct.
