I’m Ariane Holcombe, the proud principal of Mimosa. Whether you’re a current student or family, prospective student or family, or simply seeking information about MES, we hope you find our site informative and beneficial.

We create a welcoming atmosphere that values and embraces families and community partners. Our philosophy centers on nurturing students’ growth, enabling them to realize their full potential, and equipping them to become well-rounded citizens.

I am deeply honored to lead a school that prioritizes students’ needs above all else. Working alongside our dedicated staff, families, and students is a privilege. Having started my journey at MES as a teacher in 2004, this school holds a special place in my heart. I am excited about the ongoing growth of our community and our shared commitment to providing diverse learning opportunities, events, and experiences for our students. This commitment is upheld through our collaborative efforts with parents and the community.

School Governance Council

The School Governance Council serves as a vital forum for parents, school staff, and community members to actively participate in the leadership and management of the school. As a representative governing body, the Council operates within the framework of the Board of Education. Moreover, the Council embodies the voices and interests of both the community and the school.

Key responsibilities of the School Governance Council include:

• Approving the school’s strategic plan and any updates to ensure alignment with the school’s mission and vision.
• Reviewing and approving the annual budget and resource allocations to support the school’s strategic objectives.
• Managing the Request for Flexibility process to adapt policies and regulations for students and stakeholders.
• Participating in the hiring process for the principal in the event of a vacancy, ensuring the selection of a qualified and effective leader.
• Providing annual feedback on the performance of the principal, fostering accountability and continuous improvement in school leadership.
• Through collaboration and shared decision-making, the School Governance Council plays a critical role in shaping the strategic direction and overall success of the school.
