It is situated in the northeastern part of Georgia, approximately 20 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. It is well-connected to the greater Atlanta area via Interstate 85 and Highway 29. Lilburn was originally a railroad stop on the Seaboard Air Line Railway and was known as “McDaniel.” It was later renamed “Lilburn” in honor of the general superintendent of the railroad, Lilburn Trigg Myers. The city has a rich history dating back to the 19th century.
