About Cobb Horizon High School
Cobb Horizon High School emerged in the 2018-2019 academic year through the fusion of Oakwood Digital Academy and the Cobb Performance Learning Center, two alternative high schools within the Cobb County district. Serving as a non-punitive alternative, Cobb Horizon extends its offerings to high school students across Cobb County.
Students seeking an alternative path to achieve the necessary credits for a high school diploma may apply to join Cobb Horizon. Upon acceptance, students are slotted into one of three sessions, each operating from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays designated as non-school days.
Students opt for Cobb Horizon for various reasons, including academic enhancement, scheduling conflicts with work or familial obligations, social considerations, interstate transfers necessitating credit accumulation, or other personal factors.
Particularly for newcomers to Georgia, Cobb Horizon may offer a more expedient credit-earning avenue compared to local high schools.
At Cobb Horizon, instruction deviates from traditional high school norms. Coursework predominantly unfolds via online platforms, complemented by teacher support for clarifications and guidance. This format permits students to pace themselves, with opportunities for accelerated learning. Classes maintain a small size, ensuring individualized attention, and all instructors possess Georgia certification and relevant academic credentials.
Typically enrolling several hundred students, Cobb Horizon’s capacity caps at 450, fostering an environment conducive to personalized learning and student success.
