STEAM Program
Henderson Mill’s journey into STEAM education began in 2010. Leadership started acquiring and implementing key components of the STEM program. On October 31, 2012, the school proudly received official STEM certification, with Dr. Michael Buck from the Georgia Department of Education leading the dedication ceremony. This achievement marked a significant milestone, transforming Henderson Mill from a traditional PreK-5th grade institution into a STEM-focused learning hub.
The STEAM program integrates STEAM principles across all content areas. Through Project-Based Learning, students address real-world challenges with a social action component. They apply grade-level skills to local issues. Unique programs include Engineering is Elementary, Small Fry to Go, a school-wide garden, LEGO Build to Express, Aquaponics, and video production. Influential business partners, such as AMEC Foster Wheeler, CERM, Corporate Environmental Risk Management, LLC, Georgia Power, and the Woodruff Arts Center, support the school’s STEM initiatives.
