About Frank N. Osborne – osborne high school

osborne high school – Frank Newton Osborne was a visionary educator who significantly shaped the Gwinnett County school system during his 25-year career. Serving as both a classroom teacher and principal, Mr. Osborne was instrumental in developing the district’s educational framework. In 1945, he pioneered the visiting teacher program in Gwinnett County and became the first truancy officer, known for driving through rural areas in his black sedan to collect truant students and bring them to school. With his friendly, slow southern drawl, he would pull up to students and say, “Get in the car.”

Mr. Osborne was dedicated to the well-being of his students, coordinating community support to provide clothing, food, and financial aid, which helped many children stay in school.

He was married to Thelma Faulkner for 44 years, and together they raised four daughters and a son. His legacy continues through his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank Newton Osborne passed away in 1970, but his commitment to education lives on in our school, which is dedicated to his memory. Inspired by his example, our mission is to provide comprehensive support for students, ensuring they receive a valuable education and become responsible, successful citizens.
