Situated on a 10-acre campus in the southern reaches of Forsyth County, approximately 40 minutes north of Atlanta, South Forsyth High School is dedicated to delivering a top-tier education tailored for the modern learner. As part of the Georgia High School Association’s Region 6-AAAAAAA classification, it stands among six distinguished institutions.
Established as a formal high school in 1989, South Forsyth High began its journey as South Forsyth Junior High. Over time, the campus underwent significant evolution, with the addition of a middle school wing enabling the high school to function independently. Subsequently, a new South Forsyth Middle School was erected on separate grounds in 1998, facilitating the establishment of South Forsyth High’s distinctive campus. This transition was further catalyzed by the relocation of students from Forsyth County High, which had exceeded its capacity. Leading the charge as the inaugural principal was Mr. Mike Weaver. Over the years, the school has undergone a series of renovations and expansions, including a significant project that linked the previously separate buildings, augmenting the campus with a new main office, counseling facilities, classrooms, and a dining hall. Enhancements extended to the athletic domain as well, with the installation of a state-of-the-art digital display scoreboard, upgraded turf, and a revamped concession facility for the football stadium. The baseball field received its own facelift with a new ticket booth and clubhouse, while the Performing Arts Center saw improvements in lighting and sound systems.
Today, South Forsyth High School boasts a vibrant community comprising over 2,500 students, supported by a dedicated faculty, staff, and administration numbering over 200. With more than 130 classrooms, it serves as a bustling hub of learning, athletic prowess, artistic expression, and academic excellence.
Throughout its history, South Forsyth High has been led by a succession of esteemed principals, including Mike Weaver, Scott Smith, Art Wheaton, Brenda Colby, Richard Gill, Gary Davison, Jason Branch, Jeff Cheney, Laura Wilson, and Pamela Bibik.
