Ann Cooper Starling, born in Grayson, Georgia, in 1936, epitomized dedication to education. Having traversed her own academic path through Grayson Elementary and Grayson High School, she pursued higher learning at Young Harris College and the University of Georgia, graduating with honors. Her illustrious career spanned 25 years, the latter portion of which she dedicated to nurturing young minds at Grayson Elementary.
A proponent of traditional values blended with unwavering discipline and affection, Ann instilled in her students the essence of effort and character. Beyond textbooks, she enriched lessons with tangible experiences from her farm life, fostering a holistic understanding of the world. To her, every student was a cherished member of her classroom family, earning the endearing moniker “Starling’s Darlings.”
